Neal Carter and Nathan McKelvey Obtain Drone Pilot Certification

August 28, 2016 – Kineticorp is pleased to announce that Neal Carter, P.E., and Nathan McKelvey have passed the FAA Part 107 test for commercial sUAS (Small Unmanned Aerial System, or “drone”), and have received their Airman Certificates with sUAS rating. Neal and Nathan can now fly small UAS within the national airspace system.

Kineticorp currently uses drones in documenting scenes, vehicles, buildings, and land and road features for use in accident reconstruction. In addition, Kineticorp has published research on reconstructing physical evidence from photographs and video taken from a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle).

In June 2016, the FAA announced that the new rules under Part 107 would be implemented in August. Part 107 is designed to allow commercial drone use without the requirement of a manned pilot’s license. A 2-page overview of Part 107 can be found on the FAA website and the entire document here.
