Motion capture is regularly used in Hollywood movies to create realistic motion in computer generated scenes. As an accident reconstruction firm, we use this technology to develop physics-based motion of individuals involved in an accident, which is important for the sake of admissibility. In the past, the cost of the technology posed a problem. Thanks to the creative thinking from Kineticorp’s Tomas Owens, we have found a way to use motion capture for accident reconstruction. This allows us to create accurate motion of pedestrians for reconstruction animations.
Kineticorp’s Work to Date:
Kineticorp has developed several admissible animations for litigation purposes using this technology. These animations allowed us to display accurate physics based motion associated with the characters motion. This is done using to Xbox Kinect cameras (sensors) along with specialized software.
